There will be a full public meeting.

Below is an email recieved from Tim Nicholson at Grainger PLC:

email: 15th of May
To follow up the notice posted on this site, a letter will be delivered to residents shortly to explain the change in format for Sunday’s event. We would like to reassure residents that following the drop-in session on Sunday we will arrange for a more formal public meeting to take place at a later date.
Yours sincerely,
Tim Nicholson, Grainger plc, tel: 01235 433 520

We must take both opportunities to demonstrate the residents' depth and strength of feelings around the estate.

To Tim Nicholson at Grainger.
I urge you to leave the meeting format as originally planned. There won't be time to meet everyone individually. Your proposals need to be discussed in an open forum/meeting. I understand that some people are concerned about their own viewpoint (both for and against) being lost in a public meeting. Surely you could offer to accept telephone calls from such people.

Tim, I think that the idea of an initial meeting to give information followed by a proper consultation is an excellent compromise given the obvious depth of feeling over your proposals. Providing, of course, that not too much time elapses between the two.

I think that the better option would be the reverse of what is now being proposed,

i.e. public meeting first with plans etc as first posted, then to have the drop in event after that.

A great many people have put time aside for this public meeting, which now they may not even get a look in due to the potential numbers of people wanting a personal, booked meeting

What a mess! This is too short notice to change. We want the local politicians and the council there to see and hear the views and strong feelings of the residents. Grainger are trying to dodge being 'shot-down' in public.

Grainger must publicly answer for the cynical neglect of the estate, their tactics of avoiding letting allotments and garages and their profiteering plans for the estate.
WHEN IS THE PUBLIC MEETING? ANNOUNCE A DATE NOW!

how very interesting I have just booked a personal appointment for this sunday and then realised that I may not be able to attend the time, the response from the helpfull lady at Graingers .... not a porblem we can call you back today or any time conveient to you and discuss any issues or thoughts you may have over the phone !!!!

WHY can this not be the case any how and have the open public meeting this sunday as origonally planned ?!?!?!!?

We've received the letter saying the meeting format has changed but it doesn't say when the public meeting will be. What are Grainger playing at wasting peoples time! I'd go and weed the allotment but these's NO POINT!

Oh Tim, what a mess. Should this proposed development eventually proceed, perhaps you will insist that any homes built should be carbon neutral.
I'm sure our council will see this as a once in a lifetime opportunity to truly put conservation and the environment at the top of the agenda.

Yet again Graingers show their true colours and cause confusion, upset and annoyance - who do they think they are that they can chop and change to suit themselve - without properly thinking everything through rather than acting on a whim! I'm sure there are many people who wish in depth talks about their own personal feelings/ideas/concerns but the meeting should go ahead as originally planned and then let those people ( and may be many others -once they've seen and heard the proposals) arrange other meetings etc.
