What iritates me is the way Grainger have apporached the residents. We heard about the plans before Christmas but it's only now, 6 months later that we have been promised a look at what they propose. The estate needs looking after but I'm concerned that house building is Graingers main aim.

This has nothing to do with preserving the Estate as far as Graingers are concerned - if it was they would have taken action before now. It's about them making money (a lot of it - do the maths) and any small concessions the residents get, such as the hall getting painted, is what they grudgingly give in order to oil the political machinery.

Grainger are a multi milllion pound organisation, so all they are interested in is making as much money as possible and paying lip service to the residents in order to get what they want. Hopefully, as a result of the meeting their true colours will be shown. I would have thought it more advantageous from a PR point of view for Grainger to use this as an opportunity to show that they are supportive of conservation, as opposed to risking a large amount of bad publicity. I hope the meeting gives them food for thought and just as importantly the Council representatives take notice of the residents' views.

A Radio 4 PM item in March reported a national shortage of allotments. This has also been reported in the national press (a Google search will offer many links) Grainger's seem to have bucked this trend!
Rob Sutton, Alistair Moynes and I have a recording of the PM item if anyone wants it, but I'm told that posting it, or a link here, will result in the BBC throwing me in a rat infested dungeon. Probably the same one that's next on Grainger's development list.
